Our last week and a half has focused on 'Transitions' and in particular we have have been focusing on talking about the Chicks progression to their new schools in September. Our topic book was The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright. The story is all about a Koala who has to learn to deal with change and overcome its worries. This book taught us that some events may be daunting at first but with a bit of courage and support anything is possible. This story provided a great opportunity to open up discussion around the changes that will happen and any questions or worries we may have about our next schools. The children we're extremely excited to meet their new teachers and spent the morning playing in their new classrooms, exploring the toys and meeting peers from the different bubbles.
We linked our moving-up morning to metamorphosis and were very excited to release our butterflies that we have observed transforming over the last few weeks. As we watched them fly away, the children recalled the different stages of the life cycle, telling us that the butterflies are now beautiful and strong. We reminded them of all their development and successes over the past year.
Each group spent some time on the Common this week where they enjoyed climbing trees, looking for sticks and natural materials and playing hide and seek. The highlight of our last week was the party on our final day where we played, sang, danced, and went on a bear hunt. On the last day the children came in wearing fancy dress and enjoyed snacking on the healthy party food they made during our Cookery session.
We wish you all a great summer holiday filled with fun and are excited to continue the fun with lots of you in our summer club over the next couple of weeks.
