Fledglings News - 23rd June 2023

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

This week the Fledglings have enjoyed a busy time in the classroom and to prepare ourselves for Sports Day we chose the Topic Book I Really Want to Win. The children were captivated by the rhythmic flow of the story and colourful pictures, listening intently whilst we read the story. We were also able to complete all the Art projects which would feature in the Sports Day races.

As we prepare for the end of the term we are getting ready for our Fledglings to fly the nest and head to big school and this has been the topic of many discussions, especially as we rehearse our End of Year Show. The children are working really hard to practise their lines, acting out scenes and singing with big voices.

We have also continued with our regular interest led provision, providing opportunities for the children to continue developing their Maths and Literacy skills, Understanding of the World and Creative abilities. Our Role Play Area has been set up as a 'big school' and there are several different school uniforms for the children to wear as well as brochures from some of the schools we feed to, building links and understanding of the changes that will be happening.

As our Fledglings get ready to fly so to do our caterpillars which have all become pupas throughout the week. The children loved looking at them and measuring them independently using the available rulers.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly our Sports Day however where the Red and Blue Fledglings were joined by the Pink and Yellow Chicks. We had so much fun and there was a great sense of community as we all cheered on and supported each other. It was also lovely that so many of the families were able to gather afterwards for a big picnic.
