This week in the Chicks classroom, we welcomed some new friends. They have all settled well into the routine and are becoming familiar with the environment.

We explored a variety of topic stories throughout the week. The Pink and Green Chicks enjoyed You’re Not a Proper Pirate, Sidney Green by Ruth Quayle, while the Purple and Orange Chicks listened to Bigger and Bigger Animals by Moira Butterfield. The Yellow Chicks explored Sharing Time and Listening Time by Elizabeth Verdick.

We took part in lots of activities focused on vehicles, including cars, trains, and emergency vehicles this week. Through these activities, the children developed their fine motor skills while pushing and manoeuvring the vehicles, and they were encouraged to practise sharing and turn-taking.

The children also engaged with playdough, strengthening their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by pulling, poking and stretching the dough.

The highlight of the week was a visit from the fire station. The children were extremely excited to see the fire engine arrive outside 345 Nursery. They had the opportunity to use the fire hose and sit inside the fire engine, making it a memorable and engaging experience for everyone.
