The Fledglings Topic Story for this week was Fish Don’t Sneeze by Kirstie Watson, which focuses on building friendships, as well as accepting and celebrating the attributes which make us unique. Our intention behind the story was to focus on developing our unity in our new groups, welcoming new members to the Fledglings and celebrating ourselves. 

For our Art Project the children used stencils to create their own unique fish, building their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination as they used the stencils, before learning the new technique of marbling which the children were delighted by. They developed their creativity as they personalised their fish with a unique design and had lots of opportunities for expanding their communication and language skills as they discussed their ideas with their peers and teachers. 

We set up our Role Play area as a 'Pet Shop' this week, drawing on the children’s interest and love of animals and enabling them to develop their imagination skills as they build scenes in their play. 

On Thursday we enjoyed the morning on the common with the intention of recapping the Safe Zone rules and introducing them to our new Fledglings. We also enjoyed spending time exploring the natural environment.

On Wednesday we were be joined by Mr Alex for our Music session, where the children learnt new songs, developed rhythm and explored musical instruments. On Friday we enjoyed Sports with Coach Pedro, where we developed the children’s gross motor skills, hand eye coordination, strength, listening skills and team work.
