Fledglings News - 1st May
This week the Fledglings learning was focused around the Topic Story ‘Frida the Rock and Roll Moth’, which was all about being your unique self. The children discovered this book during our visit to the Northcote Road Library, the children loved seeing the book again recalling where we had first seen it. We created beautiful, uniques moths for our Topic Art and the children were great at explaining what the different details in their pictures were and naming their moths.
We have also been looking at our Person of Interest, Simone Biles, and during our Outdoor Learning Day we loved having a go at some gymnastics. We did somersaults and cartwheels, bridges and balances. It was great to see the children challenging themselves physically and encouraging each other.
During our Literacy Focus Time we continued to develop our phonics skills as we recapped our digraph sounds and introduced a new one. The actions help support the children’s recall of the sound and loved being able to match the images to the corresponding initial sound.
