This week we have been learning about the celebration of Ramadan and Eid. One of our families celebrates Eid and they were kind enough to come into nursery and share more about the different traditions that are associated with the celebration. We learnt that people don’t eat during the daylight hours and break their fast with a date. We also learnt more about prayer beads and mats and the children were fascinated, taking turns to sit on the mat and ‘make a wish’ using the beads. It was wonderful to see the children's enjoyment at learning more about Ramadan.

In our Focus Time activity we explored the phases of the moon, learning new vocabulary and sharing occasions when we have seen the moon in its different phases.

The Fledglings have also enjoyed a variety of problem solving challenges and we explored this with a selection of games played in pairs and solo. During our trip to the Secret Garden at Finton House we continued this by playing a version of ‘Noughts and Crosses’ using counters decorated with ladybirds and butterflies. We also enjoyed a solo game called Colour Code where the children had to sequence plastic disks with coloured shapes on so that they matched the images shown. The children loved doing this and challenged themselves with increasingly difficult images.
