This week, the children enjoyed a rich variety of learning experiences both indoors and outdoors. They developed their communication and language skills through story building, retelling familiar tales and acting out the Nativity using props and characters. The children also explored early literacy through drawing and mark-making.
Their fine motor skills were strengthened through activities such as cutting and mashing avocado, spreading shaving foam on 2D shapes, stacking Unifix cubes, using Christmas stampers and creating pictures of their families. They worked cooperatively while building towers, bridges, houses and stables with colourful Duplo bricks and foam bricks.
In the Role Play Café, the children enthusiastically prepared tea and coffee for friends and teachers, developing their social skills and imaginative play. They also showed curiosity and investigative skills while searching for mini-beasts with magnifying glasses and looking for small world dinosaurs hidden in amongst natural materials.
In the Outdoor Learning Environment, the children continued to develop their gross motor skills by climbing, playing tennis, navigating the obstacle course, and riding cars and tricycles. They enjoyed racing cars down drainpipes and experimenting with large diggers and tractors in the sandpit. Musical exploration was another highlight of the week, as the children sang Christmas songs and practised for their upcoming concert with Mr. Alex.
