This week at 345 Wandsworth we continued with our Topic Story ‘Up, Up, Up’ by Susan Reed. The Chicks have been working on a mixture of collaborative and individual artwork related to the story and we have enjoyed experimenting with new techniques. In our individual Art activity each Chick had free reign to decorate a piece of A5 paper with a range of tools and we displayed the final pieces so that they represent a patchwork like the fields in our Topic Story. Together we also used papier-mâché to create a Hot Air balloon. We have a basket with pictures of the children so that they can all be flying “Up, up, up, up in a balloon, up so high I can touch the moon” like the children in the story. This story and the accompanying song has been enjoyed by all.
During Free Play we have enjoyed exploring the scenes from our Topic Story by building cities with Duplo and wooden blocks. We have also played with the trains and driven cars around. Finally, the Chicks exploring the jungle with the wild animals and the farm with all our favourite farmyard friends.
It has been a short but fun week for the Chicks!
