Chicks News - 27th September 2024

This week at 345 Wandsworth we have been thinking about all things Harvest and to help us we chose the Topic Story I’m The Tractor Driver produced by the Oxford University Press. The Chicks really enjoyed being the tractor driver and learning all about the jobs a farmer has to do every day and at harvest time. The book was really interactive and encouraged the children to look for colours and shapes and to count, which is great for their development.

As our Art project this week we made a muddy path using tractor wheels dipped in mud and paint. We then created tractors from triangles, squares, rectangles and circles to drive along our muddy paths. It was great to see the Chicks' imagination throughout the week as we dressed up as farmers and drove our own tractors.

During Free Play we enjoyed exploring the Farm and all the different animals. We built shelters for the animals from Duplo, we counted the animals, and we dipped them in paint to see the different shapes that their feet make.

We have had a great time learning all our Harvest songs and the Chicks and Fledglings did an excellent job when performing them for the parents at our Harvest Festival.

What a great week of learning for the Chicks.
