This week the children have been getting ready for The King's Coronation and to support our preparations and learning around this, we chose the story The King's Coronation by Marion Billet. This was a gentle rhyming story with lots to spot, with the push and slide scenes to join the Coronation celebrations! There were lots to spot from the Houses of Parliament, the King's guards and horses and the Golden carriage with the Royal family taking a ride. The children used the push and pull mechanism to crown King Charles. After all the crowds and glory The King finally rests with a bedtime story.
We spent the week engaged in various Coronation themed activities. The children were busy making decorations, writing invitations and baking cakes for our big Banquet on Friday. The Role Play was transformed into a Royal Castle where the children dressed up as Kings and Princesses to preform on the Royal stage.
The children also made crowns using playdough and shiny looses parts and enjoyed hosting a tea party with their friends where they made scones and served tea! They also have fun using their imagination and creativity to build wonderful castles with the Duplo and the coloured blocks.
The biggest highlight of the week however was our Royal Banquet. The children arrived dressed up and with their plus one ready for a fun morning. The Nursery was opened up and all the children played together. The children sat down for a feast fit for a King and after listening to the Natural Anthem the children had their party food. We finished with party games and songs.
