The Fledglings had a great week back after half term. Our Topic Story was ‘Little Red’ a retelling of a traditional tale and the children loved exploring different elements of constructing, retelling and acting out the story. One of the highlights was during our Outdoor Learning Day where the children took turns to use the costumes and pretended to be the different characters as well as adding their own elements and combining stories.
In the classroom we have been developing our fine motor skills, practising scissor skills, using the paper punches and exploring the playdough. We also concentrated on some Practical Life skills as the children used the buttons and zip frames.
During our Outdoor Learning Day we used the grabbers to collect rubbish from around the Safe Zone and extended their learning on this during a Focus Time activity where we looked at grouping recyclable materials by category such as food waste, materials and paper and plastic. The children were very engaged and enjoyed sharing how they recycle at home.
