Our learning this week focused around the Lunar New Year celebrations and the children were fascinated by the images and utensils in our Asian themed restaurant. They enjoyed sharing their experiences with trying different foods and many of loved sharing how much they enjoyed eating sushi! Our Year of the Horse art activity was a big success as the children created marbling printed horses which they decorated with looped paper manes and bridles.
We also introduced and explored using ten frames during our Maths Focus Time looking at using them for counting and working out one less than a given number. The children embraced using the frames and were keen to work both independently and in pairs to support each other.
The highlight of the week and the first half of the Spring Term was our Art Exhibition. The children loved rearranging the classroom and transforming it into a gallery with special display labels, information about the art and artists and individual brochures. The children took great pleasure in showing their artwork to their family and friends who came to see their work. The children showed high levels of focus and attention to detail throughout each artist we explored and it was wonderful to showcase their work. We can’t wait to see what the second half of the Spring Term brings.
