Fledglings News - 20th October 2023

Updated: Oct 22, 2023

As the Fledglings get ready for Half Term we have enjoyed some busy days in the classroom. Our Topic Story A Place Called Home has led to some lovely construction exploration which has included soft foam blocks, Duplo and the Magnatiles. We have discovered different types of homes from around the world including people who live underground, in moveable homes such as yurts and even covered astronauts!

The children have loved learning Spanish with our Bilingual Beats teachers and it has been lovely to see their confidence and engagement throughout this half term. Spanish lessons are introduced in the Fledglings, building on the children’s learning of the Cultural Capital, and is therefore a new style of lesson for this cohort of children and it has been wonderful to see them fully embracing this new experience.

In cookery the Fledglings enjoyed cooking their own snack where they followed a simple recipe with pictures of the ingredients and their measurements. We will revisit this activity throughout the year to build the children’s recall and confidence to complete the activity with the most amount of independence. Eating the rock cakes they had made was definitely a highlight of this week!

Have a lovely half term and we look forward to returning after the break.
