Fledglings News - 2nd July 2021

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

This week we have continued our focus on 'Transitions' where we have been encouraging the children to discuss their feelings and ask any questions they may have about moving up to big school.

We extended this topic to our Role Play Area where the children were able to explore school uniforms. The children really enjoyed this activity and they were very excited to be able to dress up in the different school uniforms and extend role play scenarios with the props and school bags available.

During our Story Building activity the children created stories about their new schools based on their imagination as well as the their knowledge and experiences of their time in our nursery. It was lovely to see the children sharing ideas and reflecting on all the things that they they will do at their new schools.

During Free Play, messy play has continued to be a very popular activity amongst the children. The Fledglings have also enjoyed creating patterns with the sequencing bears and observing our caterpillars turning into butterflies. They were particularly engaged in watching the butterflies dry their wings and curious to find out what butterflies eat and what would happen to them once they are released.

This week some of the children visited their future schools and they came back with many exiting stories about their new teachers and and what they are looking forward to doing with their new class in September. It was wonderful to see the children’s confidence and excitement of moving up and we are all very proud of them.
