Fledglings News - 30th March 2023

The Fledglings have had a wonderful week and half learning all about Ramadan before the Easter Holidays. We took inspiration from our Topic Book Under the Ramadan Moon to create moon decorations and wee were very lucky to have our own Ramadan workshop led by Miss Saira. During thee workshop everyone was very excited to hear about Miss Saira's experience of celebrating Ramadan and she brought in items of clothing, jewellery and a prayer mat for the children to look at, increasing their understanding with the visual aids.

Alongside learning about Ramadan we enjoyed some Easter themed activities including egg mark-making activities which the children loved and really allowed their creativity to flow. The Fledglings have been enjoying creative activities and especially ones which enable them to work together and we have encouraged this by providing stamping, watercolour painting and chalk drawing materials which they use together on large paper.

During our Outdoor Learning Day’s we have been supporting the children in their imaginative play by providing different items for them to incorporate. We have used animal masks, plastic cars, loose parts and baskets. It is wonderful to see the children using items familiar in the classroom setting in a different way. We also used a technique called Hapa Zome to create flower printing onto the March segment of our phenology wheel.

Wishing you a lovely Easter break, Ramadan and Eid.
