This week the Fledglings have enjoyed a wonderful week celebrating World Book Day. The children brought in their favourite books to share with their friends throughout the week and we loved reading them together.

For our Art Project we designed our own books. The children discussed different ways stories can start and end and collectively we decided on ‘Once Upon a Time’ as our beginning and ‘They Lived Happily Ever After’ as our ending. The children designed the front cover, illustrated the pages inside and described their pictures. The children showed wonderful creativity and storytelling as they visited museums, got lost driving in London, enjoyed picnics and spent time with their families. It was wonderful to see their love and enjoyment of reading flourishing.

We dressed up on World Book Day and enjoyed celebrating a world wide event. The children’s varying costumes showed a wide variety of reading tastes from traditional stories and fairy tales as well as books adapted from films, and of course the teachers were also very excited to participate.
