This week the Chicks started with Christmas topic and Chicks loved listening to the different Nativity stories. They were also very exciting to begin practising the songs for our Christmas Concert and making surprising Christmas gifts for our parents in our Christmas Workshop.
During Free Play we fed the babies ‘porridge' and practised scooping and transferring. We also washed the babies in soapy water using sponges and explored the gel letters and shaving foam. On the rug we used the big plastic blocks to build big towers and houses and played with the cars on the street carpet. We also used the Stickle Bricks to build fences and barns for the farm animals.
Our favourite activity of the week was playing with the Small World Nativity scene where we pretended to be different characters and enjoyed recapping the events from the story. We also enjoyed exploring playdough and using the Christmas cutters and rolling pins to make different shapes. On our Maths table this week we explored the scales, weighing the Compare Bears.
Our Role Play Area has been set up as a Doctor Surgery for this week. We were busy booking appointments, taking phone calls and looking after sick teachers and friends.
For our Maths Focus Time we explored the numbers one to three and we tried to match quantity to numeral.
During our Outdoor Learning Walk we walked around the area and we looked at the trees around us. We learned that some trees lose their leaves in the Autumn, and some of the trees stay green all year. We did so well during the walk; we listened to and followed the instructions and we held onto the rope at all times.
In the Outdoor Learning Environment we played tennis, had fun riding the tricycles and cars, popped bubbles and explored the farm and farm animals. We also explored musical instruments while practising our Christmas songs.
We are looking forward to another busy week next week at 345 Wandsworth!
