Fledglings News - 22nd September 2023

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

The Fledglings have enjoying exploring storytelling this week using our Topic Book Colours, Colours Everywhere as inspiration. The children used a variety of activities to build their creativity and storytelling abilities including small world scenes using the animals and a boat, loose parts, natural items and the Magnetic Dressing Dolls. Our Role Play Area incorporated the Story Spoons and traditional tales to develop the children’s recall skills.

For our Art Project this week we designed several elements from our Topic Story and the children used collage, stamping, sponge painting and marbling to make different elements of the story for our display. It has been lovely to see the children embracing the different techniques for creating art.

A highlight this week was taking our invitations for our Grandparents to the post box to be posted. Each child had their own letter to post and it sparked lots of discussions about how post was collected, what happened next to the letter and how long it would take to arrive at its destination.

As always our Outdoor Learning Day was a lot of fun and the children loved exploring nature, climbing trees and we explored Phonics as we decorated the initial letters of our names for display in the classroom. Alongside this our classroom activities have involved building the children’s fine motor control, number recognition and Phonetic Awareness.

What a busy week in the Fledglings classroom!
