The Fledglings approached our Artists Topic with enthusiasm as we looked at the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldi. They loved looking at the details in his paintings and seeing which types of fruit and vegetables they could identify before using printed pictures to create their own fruit and vegetable portraits. It was so much fun and the children were very creative with their ideas. We are looking forward to sharing these with our families during our Art Exhibition.

Bark rubbing was one of the tasks during our Outdoor Learning Day in preparation for another one of our Artists during our upcoming Art Lecture, and the children did really well with taking turns with the chalks and crayons, finding the best trees to give the paper texture and rubbing to cover the whole of the paper. We also enjoyed playing swing ball, cheering our friends on whilst we waited for our turn.

The children’s interests led to lots of water exploration as we collected rain to use with the tubes sending boats and ducks sailing down and in the classroom we looked at how salt can help to melt ice faster after some of the children saw gritters spreading salt along the roads.
