Fledglings News - 24th January 2025

The Fledglings have enjoyed learning about Leonardo da Vinci this week as we continue to explore our Artists Topics in preparation for our Art Exhibition before Half Term. Through our exploration we have looked at some of his famous works, as well as the details in his sketchbooks which he became famous for after his death. Through these Topics we explore not only the Expressive Art and Design area of the curriculum of the EYFS but also Literacy and Understanding of the World alongside Geography and History.

In the classroom we take inspiration from the children’s activities to extend their learning. This week we explored fractions after several of the children began this naturally using the Peg Boards. We also enjoyed learning about primary and secondary colours in our STEAM Focus Time, building fine motor skills, making predictions and recalling information.

Collaboration was the name of the game during our Outdoor Learning Day as the children worked together to make a road for the cars to travel down. They brought their ideas together and what began as an activity working together evolved as the children used stones to make round-a-bouts and larger logs for bridges, roots became roadworks and the children took turns to be the traffic lights.

Next week we are celebrating the Lunar New Year and looking at the different ways it is celebrated around the world.
