The Fledglings have been looking at the work of Vincent Van Gogh this week and focusing on still life paintings. The children here focused on selecting and mixing the right colours to achieve the desired effects in their work and it was great to see their enthusiasm and care for the work they are creating.

We also enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Secret Garden at Finton House and we loved using the Mud Kitchen equipment in our play to make muffins and cakes. We then took this inspiration into the classroom where we baked our own real blueberry muffins and enjoyed them for Snack Time. The children declared the muffins “delicious” and had even prepared enough for the teachers to enjoy too.

We welcomed Mr Andrew, who is a lecturer at the Chelsea and Westminster College, to the classroom on Friday where we learnt about the work of the artist Jean Dubuffet. In our groups we created a collaborative piece of art using textured paper which we had prepared at a previous Outdoor Learning Day. The children were so attentive and focused throughout and loved taking turns and sharing their ideas.
