The Fledglings were in bright spirits after arriving back after half term and enjoyed sharing their Half Term Holiday News during our Focus Time activity. It was great to hear about all the exciting adventures they had. This was also a great way to contniue strengthening their working memory and recall skills as they shared pictures, discussed their activities and answered questions. Sharing our activities in this way creates a wonderful link between what the children do at home and the experiences they have at nursery.
Our Topic Story this week was Daisy’s Dragons which focused on emotions. The children were really engaged in the story and were able to quickly recall which dragon represented each feeling. We loved sharing things which made us feel happy or calm as well as times when we might get frightened or sad.
This week we also visited the Secret Garden at Finton House and were blessed with wonderful weather. The children loved mixing in the Mud Kitchen, creating role play scenarios based on pirates and reading books with their teachers. All the measuring in the Mud Kitchen led to us exploring capacity in on Maths Focus Time. The walk this week was particularly exciting as we saw several emergency vehicles travelling with their sirens on and some tree surgeons navigating the tall trees. We also loved our letter formation practise using shaving foam to allow our fingers to glide as we formed each letter and create a sensory experience.
