The Fledglings have been fascinated by the changes in the seasons and learning about how plants grow. Our Topic Story ‘Luna Loves Gardening’ enabled them to explore this interest further and supported us to look at different seeds, the conditions necessary for a seed to flourish and where different seeds come from. We implemented this learning during our Outdoor Learning Day as we looked at the different plants and flowers and differentiated between which parts were seeds and which were not. We enjoyed collecting some of the seeds and the fluffy dandelion ones were most of the children's favourites.

As we continue to prepare for the transition to big school we have enjoyed visits from Broomwood, Thomas's and Finton House and it has been wonderful to introduce the children to some of the people they will be with as they continue their learning journeys in September.

The children love putting their learning into practise and we have delighted in seeing so many of our children gaining confidence with reading. The activities we put out during Free Play enables the children to recap skills we have been teaching as well as work with and learn from their peers as they develop their skills.

One of our favourite challenges this week was Deconstruction. The children were given a selection of tools which they used to dismantle an old DVD and Video player. The children were fascinated by the equipment and eager to see what was inside. The activity challenged their problem solving skills, strengthened and refined their fine motor control and built vocabulary and conversation skills as we discussed the items.
